I'm sure nothing was changed from W7 to W10 (what we tried it on) as W10 is even more removed from its original XP when it was launched in 2001 or so?īut good to know I'm not alone with thinking that Acid 3.0 was so simple and even 4.0 (Sony) lost some of that instant magic. We only ran it for a little bit, but it installed perfectly and looked like it was running fine? It's very difficult to write for multi OS's without sacrificing something unless you write two separate versions which most companies cannot afford to do. This is the reason there is no Mac version of Acid Pro and why FL Studio has taken years to get FL to run on Mac. NET or native programming languages to write it.Īcid Pro is written in native Windows programming languages and thus produces a better result in terms of performance and sound clarity. You ever notice how Ableton doesn't feel native to Windows when you run it? It's because they didn't use. Ableton always has to do a quick translation to pass the data to Windows.Ībleton sound quality is amazing on the Mac but you are running in translation on the PC. NET and talks to the Windows audio drivers and layer natively it is much faster and cleaner when it sends sound to and from your sound card drivers. In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, because Acid uses. NET or the native programming languages built into Windows. They had to do translation and conversion to get Ableton to the PC which means it doesn't use. The other thing alot of people don't understand is that Ableton was never programmed in Windows natively and was originally coded for Mac. Acid doesn't get in the way of your ideas. I find myself bangin out amazing beats in 1/3 the time I was doing so in Ableton.Īlso, I love the output sound quality and the ease of use. Even though it hasn't had a major update in a while it is great program. I ran across Acid Pro and saw they had a sale on it for about $100 for a full license so I bought it and started using it again. I also was starting to question if I liked the sound engine in Ableton. I was getting frustrated with the way the new version of Ableton works with previewing sounds and just dont like the way Ableton handles built in VSTs.
